There aren’t many things better in this world than a baby at Christmas. My first baby was about 7 weeks old at Christmas (and she slept 6 hours straight on Christmas Eve!) and my second was 12 days old. She didn’t let me sleep but it still made the holidays extra special for my family.
When they are that tiny, Christmas gifts don’t really matter but when they are mobile and able to open presents, it’s a blast! If you’ll have a little one in the 0-2 age group around this Christmas, here are my favorite gift ideas.
Cute Books for Babies
We all know the importance of reading to our children but having been to the children’s library many times, I can tell you that not all books are great. Here are my favorites!
Indestructibles are perfect for babies because their pages cannot be torn and they’re washable! Seriously, you can put them in the dishwasher when they’re covered in slobber and grime.
Karen Katz has a bunch of adorable lift-the-flap books that all babies and toddlers love. My favorite board book of all-time is Where is Baby’s Belly Button? because of the fun I’ve had reading it to my two girls.
Here are some must-have books for every baby’s library.
- Guess How Much I Love You
- Goodnight Moon
- Animals (Baby Touch and Feel)
- Peek-A Who?
- Giraffes Can’t Dance
- Dear Zoo: A Lift-the-Flap Book
- The Going-To-Bed Book (or anything by Sandra Boynton!)
Tried-and-True Baby Toys
The goal is to get toys that will actually get played with. We’ve had some hits and misses in our house but these are the ones that have been played with a ton.
The VTech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker is worth its weight in gold. It’s the main reason I was able to make supper with my first baby.
The LeapFrog Learn and Groove Musical Table Activity Center is also a lifesaver. There are so many things to do on this table that it keeps your little one busy for quite awhile.
The Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes Musical Toy is under $10 and it’s not annoying! The music is actually very relaxing and babies love it. The batteries last forever, too!
You can’t go wrong with the Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Learning Kitchen. It is so much fun!
Mega Bloks are a great learning toy that your little one with play with for several years.

Baby Subscription Boxes
I was so bummed to find out that Citrus Lane went out of business because I did a 6-month subscription when my oldest was 2-3 and I loved everything in each box! She is now enjoying a Kiwi Crate subscription from her aunt and uncle but I decided to find out what is available for babies now.
It looks like Bluum is amazing and very similar to Citrus Lane so I’m putting it on my toddler’s Christmas wish list.
- Get 30% off your first box!
I’ve been really impressed by my daughter’s Kiwi Crate subscription so I am happy to hear that they have a new subscription box for 0-3-month-old babies called Cricket Crate. If you sign up for their emails you can get 30% off. They’ll be launching a crate for the 4-36 month age group soon.
The Honest Company
How about a subscription to The Honest Company diaper and wipes? You’ll get 6 packs of diapers and 4 packs of wipes per month. They’re even offering 40% off your first month with the code 40OFF.
These diapers are so cute that the box will still be fun to open on Christmas morning.
PS: If you prefer a smaller commitment, check out their free trial that comes with 7 diapers and 10 wipes. You only pay a shipping fee of $5.95 and they give you 7 days to cancel before it turns into a regular subscription.
Earth Mama Angel Baby is one of my favorite baby companies and they have a Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Getting Started Kit has trial-sized baby products which are perfect for travel or just trying out a new brand. We use their baby wash and diaper ointment all the time and I love it.
If you’re planning on making your own baby food, the Infantino Squeeze Station is a best-seller that is usually under $20.
One of my favorite baby items is my aden + anais swaddle blankets. They are super soft and beautiful and I seriously use them for everything – a nursing cover, stroller cover, tummy time, swaddling. My imaginative 5-year-old even uses them to make forts and capes! There are two choices depending on your budget.
- The boutique swaddles are bigger and softer and they retail for $49.95 for a 4-pack but are often on sale for under $40 on Amazon.
- The aden by aden + anais swaddleplus blankets are a little smaller and not quite as soft but still very nice. They’re $34.95 and you can find them on Amazon (often on sale) or at Target.
A memory book is a gift that your little one will enjoy many years down the road. I love this one by Pearhead. I just hope you’ll be better than me at keeping up with it!
What are you giving your baby this Christmas? I’d love to hear your ideas.
